With nearly 3.5 million visitors in 2025, the company consolidates its international position and continues to expand its strategy in Germany with a clear focus on quality, visitor loyalty and conservation.
Loro Parque and Loro Parque Fundación take centre stage at the Green & Blue Tourism Forum, promoting the creation of a Marine Protected Area in Macaronesia.
Loro Parque is once again taking part in ITB Berlin, one of the world’s leading travel trade fairs, with a clear strategic objective: to consolidate the German market as one of its key international pillars and to further position the Canary Islands as a destination defined by excellence, sustainability and strong commitment to biodiversity.
Following a successful 2025, with nearly 3.5 million guests across its parks, the group arrives in Berlin strengthened by the stability and forward-looking nature of its tourism model, based on high-quality visitor experiences, consistent animal welfare standards, continuous innovation and a positive impact on the destinations in which the company operates.
The delegation is headed by Loro Parque president Wolfgang Kiessling and vice-president Christoph Kiessling. An intensive programme of meetings is planned with tour operators, airlines, travel agencies, investors and institutional representatives, aimed at further strengthening the close ties between German visitors and the Canary Islands.
“The German market is strategically important to us not only in terms of volume, but also because of its close alignment with our values: visitors who appreciate quality, sustainability and authentic experiences. ITB provides the ideal platform to deepen partnerships and communicate our vision for the future,” said Wolfgang Kiessling.
The group’s presence in Berlin goes beyond commercial promotion and forms part of a long-term strategic approach. Like other leading Spanish tourism companies reinforcing their international loyalty strategies at ITB, Loro Parque Group is committed to building lasting partnerships and further enhancing the positioning of the Canary Islands within the quality tourism segment.
A particular highlight is the prominent role of Loro Parque and Loro Parque Fundación at the Green & Blue Tourism Forum, organised in collaboration with ITB Berlin and Latin America World.
As part of the forum, Christoph Kiessling, President of Loro Parque Fundación, will deliver the presentation “Macaronesia: a true sanctuary for biodiversity”, advocating for the creation of a Marine Protected Area in the Macaronesian region one of the most biodiverse marine areas on Earth, home to 84 per cent of North Atlantic cetacean species.
The presentation will highlight the active role that tourism companies must play in protecting natural capital, arguing that conservation is not an accessory element, but the very foundation on which the tourism of the future must be built.
“Sustainability must not remain a mere guiding principle. It must translate into measurable actions, investment in science and effective ecosystem protection. For decades, Loro Parque Group has demonstrated that tourism and conservation can move forward together,” stated Kiessling.
The forum will also promote a participatory initiative aimed at raising awareness about the strategic importance of conserving the Macaronesian region and reinforcing the group’s commitment to environmental education and social responsibility.
Against the backdrop of accelerating global biodiversity loss, Loro Parque Group reaffirmed at ITB the essential role of modern zoos and aquariums as scientific centres for conservation, research and environmental education.
The group’s trajectory is built on a model with clearly defined objectives, where the tourism experience becomes a driver of conservation. Over the past year, Loro Parque recorded a remarkable baby boom among numerous species, including capybaras, lion tamarins, sea lions, dolphins and the birth of the orca Teno — a reflection of scientific rigour, animal care and professional excellence.
Siam Park continues to consolidate its position as one of the best water parks in the world. Its Siam Nights exceeded 100,000 attendees, becoming one of the most successful summer night leisure events in the Canary Islands. In addition, the park was recognised at FITUR as “Best Theme Park in Spain”. The award, presented by the Spanish Association of Tourism Journalists (FIJET), further reinforces its national and international reputation.
Poema del Mar increased its visitor numbers by 12 per cent, further strengthening its position as a leading centre for scientific outreach and marine conservation. New programmes focus on particularly endangered species such as the Lake Titicaca giant frog, cold-water corals and seahorse species of the “Sea Dragon” genus.
In the hotel sector, Hotel Botánico & The Oriental Spa Garden has reopened following an extensive refurbishment, reinforcing its international standing as a benchmark for wellness and health. Eight awards as “Best Spa Hotel in Europe and the Mediterranean” underline its excellence. The hotel has also been honoured with the Travelife Gold Award, further evidence of its strong commitment to sustainability, social responsibility and environmental management.
ITB also represents an opportunity to strengthen the historic ties between Loro Parque Group and Germany, the country of origin of its founder and one of the most loyal source markets for the Canary Islands.
The company remains committed to reinforcing this long-term relationship, convinced that the future of the sector lies in consolidating markets such as Germany, increasing visitor quality and advancing towards a more regenerative, conscious and environmentally aligned tourism model.
With its participation at ITB Berlin, Loro Parque Group once again underlines its ambition to remain an international benchmark for responsible leisure tourism and its commitment to a model that combines business excellence with the effective protection of biodiversity.
