Registrations for this educational project are open until September 19
Loro Parque and Poema del Mar have once again launched the search for their new Child Directors. This educational project offers children the opportunity to explore all areas of these leading biodiversity conservation centres, learning firsthand about the daily work of their dedicated professionals.
To be eligible, participants must be children aged 8 and 12 who live in Tenerife (for Loro Parque) or Gran Canaria (for Poema del Mar). Ideal candidates will demonstrate creativity, curiosity, and a genuine passion for animals and the natural world.
Applicants are required to submit a video of no more than three minutes explaining why they are the perfect fit for the role. The video should cover: the importance of Loro Parque and Poema del Mar in protecting nature, their personal motivation, values, and connection to animals and the environment, as well as ideas on how children can work alongside both parks to contribute to wildlife and environmental conservation.
Each park will select ten finalists, who will then present their applications to a jury. From there, three winners per park will be chosen.
From 11 October to April, the selected children will take part in a six-month programme featuring thirteen specially designed educational activities, created by the Loro Parque Group’s education team and the Loro Parque Fundación. The goal is to give participants a deep understanding of conservation, animal care, and the operation of the parks.
“With this project, we aim to inspire children to discover the value of conservation and become true ambassadors for nature. Loro Parque and Poema del Mar are not only species conservation centres, they are also educational spaces where children can learn, have fun, and become committed to caring for the planet,” explains Cybell Kiessling, CAO of the Loro Parque Group.
The Child Director initiative is a special awareness-raising project within Loro Parque Group’s social responsibility strategy, focusing on environmental education and awareness, implemented through the Loro Parque Fundación. The aim is to bring the animal world closer to the younger generations and foster their commitment to protecting the planet.
This experience combines fun and learning, enabling children to actively participate across the parks, guided by experts, as they discover the fascinating world of animal welfare and conservation.
