The Group will be present at one of the most important cultural events in the archipelago with its travelling exhibition of Macaronesia cetaceans and by giving its name to one of the event’s spaces.
Loro Parque will have a prominent presence at the Mueca 2025 Festival, one of the most important cultural events in the Canary Islands, which will be held from 8 to 11 May in Puerto de la Cruz. The NGO will exhibit its travelling Exhibition of Macaronesia Cetaceans on Avenida Cristóbal Colón (opposite Lago Martiánez), thanks to the support of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation through CaixaBank, Archipiélago Renting and Fred. Olsen Express.
In addition, the Foundation names one of the festival’s spaces, which will be located in the Plaza Reyes Católicos and will host different shows during the four days of the event.
A spectacular exhibition of life-size cetaceans will surprise visitors.
Right in front of the Martiánez Municipal Tourist Complex, one of the focal points of the municipality, festival-goers will be able to enjoy the Macaronesia cetaceans exhibition. So far this year, this educational project promoted by the Foundation has been attended by more than 7,000 people and around 60 schools.
During these days, the public at Mueca can be amazed by the spectacular life-size figures representing large cetaceans, which, together with the use of virtual reality, provides visitors with an unprecedented educational experience.
‘We want to offer the public a powerful and unforgettable experience. The life-size figures and virtual reality allow visitors to experience the world of cetaceans up close, fostering an emotional bond that is essential for their conservation,’ explains the president of Loro Parque Fundación, Christoph Kiessling.
Loro Parque Fundación is developing this initiative with the aim of raising public awareness of the great abundance of cetaceans in the archipelago. In this way, it seeks to rally support for the creation of a Marine Biodiversity Sanctuary in Macaronesia, and the extension of the moratorium on the use of military anti-submarine sonar in Spanish territorial waters in the Canary Islands.
Loro Parque Fundación at Plaza Reyes Católicos
As partner of the festival, Loro Parque Fundación will give its name to one of the spaces of the event. This will be located on the Plaza Reyes Católicos, a key place for both the municipality and Loro Parque, as this is the departure point for its renowned trains to the Animal Embassy.
During the four days of the festival, the space will host numerous performances to enjoy street art, featuring artists from all over the world.
‘Being part of Mueca is a great opportunity to unite art, science and environmental awareness in a festive environment accessible to everyone,’ concludes Kiessling.
